“Your book is imperative to any dog owner, not just those of us lucky enough to have been chosen by an Akita!  I have found your book has become not only a necessary part of my day to day routines but also truly addictive. I have not been able to put it down since it arrived, my husband has even found me in the kennels reading it with the dogs. Thank you for your time and effort spent researching and writing these books. It is much appreciated. I hope my comments will go some way towards expressing how special these books are.”

“I recommend your book to every Akita fanciers wherever they live in the world. I had never read such an interesting and informative book before and yet I read quite many books about Akitas.  Pictures and Mrs Meyer's illustrations are wonderful.  All chapters give useful information and I personally loved in particular the chapters about nutrition, herbs and supplements and health.  Thank you, Barbara for this fantastic book that every Akita owner should have in their library. I really enjoyed reading it.

Greetings from France.”

Akita-Treasure of Japan, Vol II is the most comprehensive, detailed and complete book about the Akita breed that I have ever seen.  No other book for any breed contains as much detailed information about health and natural/homeopathic issues.”

Honestly, Barbara, I cannot say enough good about your book.  If there is a bible for Akitas (and I believe there is) you are the author.  I only wish I’d had it back in 1989 when I purchased my first Akita.”

“The vastness of information the author, Barbara (Ms. Bouyet), has added in Volume II of Akita - Treasure of Japan, necessitates that she be considered more an educator, as her continued quest to expand her own knowledge, especially in the areas of medical and nutritional companion dog care, is only exceeded by her apparent desire (willingness) to share it with her readers.

Barbara puts words to paper in a comprehensive flow.  The layout of this book makes it perfect as a reference book, which enables locating specific topics an ease.    The substantial information on nutrition and natural care added to Volume II,  are non-breed specific, making it well worth the reading by any dog owner.  I definitely consider this book a must have in my own dog reference books library, as it has it all.”

“If you only buy ONE book about dogs or Akitas this is the ONE to get. I highly recommend this book to all my extended puppy families. It is well written and very easy to understand for the novice or seasoned owner. The medical information inside can be invaluable to the owner or his/her vet. This is the most complete book ever written on our breed and the most treasured addition in my library.”

“A great book from a great Akita lady!  Barbara cares deeply about the health and welfare of Akitas, and it shows in her research and her books.  I thought her first book was excellent, but the 2nd edition is THE most useful book ever written on Akitas.  An absolute "must have" for anyone who loves the breed!

"The Book splendid! I hear much new from this book. She particularly valuable for me since Akita-new for me breed of the dogs, but books on this breed no! The Book for me desk encyclopedia! Sad that these dogs much problems with health. Shall hope that  Puma all will well be with health.  I talked with some owner akitas, they speak that akita- very much energy of the dog.  But Puma-such phlegm! She not aggressive,  mistrustful to stranger, but quite not aggressive. In what age beside they reveal itself the aggression?  Or this depends on nature and education? Beside us have already fallen out the first snow, and she went with my samoyeds in sleddog. She liked!  But load I gave her small since she heavy, bones else before the end did not. "

“On the topic of praise for your book - my husband's comments were that the book is a wonderful example of how ANY subject should be treated...it's comprehensive, organized, thorough, engaging...and great to look at.  It also looks like you didn't cut any corners in the production of the book...the photos and illustrations are plentiful, the resource lists...even the feeling of the pages and the integrity of the cover itself. And we are learning SO MUCH.  I certainly hope that if there are awards given in publishing for this sort of thing that you enter the book into competition, because everyone who sees it here remarks on what a tremendous volume it is,”

“I am completely absorbed in your book!  I do have to tell you that everyone at my office knows when I am looking at your website.  When reading the stories, I always have tears streaming down my face, and can only read one story at a time.  Especially Tootsie's story...

Thank you for doing all that you do, especially for being one of the best

Akita references out there, and for making us all feel that we are not

alone while trying to educate ourselves about this special breed.  It's so

very rare to find someone so dedicated, so highly revered in the Akita

world, but yet has time to help us "little people" if need be.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”

“Barbara, I'm the one who won the bid for your latest book on the rescue auction. Can't tell you enough how much I am enjoying it and am thrilled to add it to your other volume.

Am the managing editor of a daily newspaper in Indiana and really appreciate your style of writing. Thanks for all the work and information. Education is the key to good Akita owners.”

“Today, I received dear Barbara's Book perfectly with thanks.

Because of my English so poor, I started to read the Book slowly by

a word and the next word.  And, on the "Introduction", I understood

why and how dear Barbara could have her energy to write the Book.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity.

Please give my best regards to dear Barbara.”

I was in floods of tears reading the dedication page and feel I can truly relate to you. There are very few of us who feel as deeply or as passionately for these beautiful dignified giants Barbara, I know I am in good company with you.

Thank You from the bottom of my heart!”

“There have been few books on our breed that have found themselves on my "must have" list.  Akita- Treasure of Japan, Vol. II has not only made that list, it went straight to the top!  This book covers everything from A to Z on the Akita and I particularly appreciated the extra attention given to care of our senior dogs.  Barbara Bouyet has outdone herself with this effort and I hope every Akita lover gets the opportunity to read this book.

“ I can wholeheartedly say that I think your book is the best, most comprehensive Akita book available, and if there is only one Akita book in the house, Akita - Treasure of Japan should be it.”

“I’ve now read the book, “Akita Treasure of Japan”, and I’m almost sorry that there isn’t a “part two” since I loved the way in which it was written, from the heart and straight forward. It’s clearly written by a person who truly loves the breed and cares for it’s future. The section with the stories of all the “Hachi-ko’s” in the shelters and their tales was really touching. It should make a breeder really think more than twice when selecting homes for their puppies, if they decide to have a litter. Also the in-depth explanation of the Akita standard gave more than just looking at photos. The section about the Akita history I found to be more accurate than what I’ve read in other Akita books. And the book guides you superbly through the Akita puppy’s first days, its growth, training etc. to the older Akita dog and its care. The chapters which concentrated on the environment’s influence, vaccines and dog food made me jump. It almost made me feel like an ignorant fool as the obvious was all there, in black and white. True, the book in some chapters has many technical terms but they are a necessity. To be honest, I’ve never read an Akita book before that has intrigued me so much! I’ve proudly brought it out from the bookshelf when I’ve had Akita friends over.”

“Dear Barbara,

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Have just received my copy of your wonderful new book, which was given to me for my birthday and I would just like to send you a BIG THANK YOU!!

Firstly for creating what I believe to be the most comprehensive, in depth and informative Akita reference book of all time, plus for adding that special touch of personally signing it for me. I was just over the moon when I opened my package.

Relatively new to the breed, my love of Akitas began well before I acquired my first show girl Kobe back in 1996. In fact I had my first small Akita reference book for 3 years or so prior and I studied it thoroughly. Certain that this was the breed for me, in 1996 I purchased my Kobe together with your first edition "Treasure of Japan" from my breeder. Over the years I have collected many Akita books written by varying authors but none is so treasured as your "Treasure of Japan". It's been my bible and reference for whenever I just needed to know.

Who better to learn from, than from someone with all your experience and knowledge on this breed? As we know one never stops learning and every day brings us new challenges and experiences to learn from. I can only thank you so much for sharing your knowledge within this book.

So once again a very BIG THANK YOU for all you have done. Both for the Akita as a breed and for helping us breeders to gain knowledge to help improve our breeding. We are all eternally grateful.

Wishing you all the very best for a lifetime of happiness”

Sincerely yours
